Do-it-Yourself Example — let's create a self-leveling cup holder!

The Universal nclamp is topped off by an anodized aluminum ball. This ball is a 1" diameter, standardized to fit a wide variety of couplers from RAM Mounts.

Let's say you want to build a clamp that mounts a cup holder on your bike handlebars.

You're in luck! RAM Mounts has a fantastic self-leveling cup holder that even includes its standard 1" ball.

RAM Mounts also manufactures a number of couplers which can socket the two balls. The coupler (seen in the image below) has its own handle that can be loosened and tightened to move and lock the cup holder in your desired position.

The RAM Mounts self-leveling cup holder includes its own insulating cozy for a 12 oz. soda can. If you remove the cozy, the cup holder can hold a coffee cup.

Notice how the ball attached to the cup holder is socketed along with the nclamp and voila! You now have a self-leveling cup holder attached to your bicycle.

The combination of a PONY spring clamp and a RAM Mounts ball-and-socket system gives the nclamp its unparalleled versatility and strength. The nclamp can hold up to 3 lbs. (1.4 kg) of weight, easily managing larger devices and objects.

The nclamp's PONY spring clamp is constructed of a nickel-plated steel. Its jaws are capable of opening up to 2" (5.1 cm) wide and tightly clamping down to any surface. The PONY's trademark orange tips protect and grip the surfaces that it is clamped on to, and the orange handles make the clamp easier to squeeze open with a single hand. Competitive products offer off-market clamps made of imported steel — cheaply constructed imitations of the classic PONY clamp used in our nclamp products.

Important! The steel PONY clamp needs a bit of care if exposed to water.

The PONY clamp and its high-strength spring are made of steel, which will rust if exposed to water or a damp environment. If you use your nclamp at sea or on a beach, it should be rinsed with freshwater and dried after use. If you use your nclamp in the rain or drop it in a lake, it should be dried after use. You can towel dry, but we'd recommend a quick blow of heat from a hair dryer to remove moisture from the spring.
